Altor BioScience is awarded grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
Miramar, Florida, October 22, 2008 - A proposal submitted by Marilyn Fernandez, Ph.D., a researcher at Altor BioScience Corporation, to engineer single-chain T-cell receptors (TCRs) to target HIV-infected cells for immunotherapy has been awarded a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation under the Foundation’s Grand Challenges Explorations program. 104 such grants were selected from nearly 4,000 applications and were awarded to scientists from 22 countries on 5 continents.
